DIALOG BOX OPTIONS

Experience Level Sets the difficulty level for menus and toolbars. The number and complexity of commands displayed on menus and toolbars increases from Beginner to Advanced. Select the experience level that is right for you based on your level of experience with CAD (computer-aided design). The default value, Advanced, is set during installation. The Customize User Interface command determines which toolbar buttons and menu items are displayed by each experience level.

Autosave Drawing Every Mark to create a backup of the drawing at specified time intervals. The default is 15 minutes; selecting a value of 0 minutes is the same as turning automatic save off. The file is saved in the folder specified in Options > Paths/Files for Temporary Files, with the file extension specified in the File Extension box (by default, .SV$).

NOTE Do not use too brief a time if you often work with large drawings, because it can take a minute or more to save a very large drawing.

Back Up to BAK File when Saving Drawings Mark to save an older version of a drawing file with a .bak extension each time the drawing is saved. (This setting corresponds to the ISAVEBAK system variable.)

When Drawings Close Choose how to treat autosave and backup files when the program or drawings close. (This setting corresponds to the AUTOSAVERETAIN system variable.)

Default Format Select the default file format that you want to display in the Save Drawing As dialog box. For example, if you use the Save As command to save most of your drawings in a legacy file format, you can select that file format as the default so you don’t have to select it each time you save a drawing using the Save As command. This setting has no effect on saving existing or new drawings using commands other than Save As — CADdirect always saves existing drawings in their current file format and saves new drawings with the most current file format.

Incremental Save Click to save only the changed parts of drawings instead of re-saving the entire drawing (a full save). If enabled, enter the percentage of a drawing that can be estimated as wasted space before a full save is performed.

Open Drawings Using Recover Click if you regularly open drawings that contain errors or damaged data, for example, if you are a new CADdirect user and your original drawings were created using different CAD software. This option automatically checks all drawings for errors when using the Open command, and attempts recovery, as needed.

Hide Warnings when Opening Drawings Using Recover Click to hide warning messages when opening drawings; however, viewing warning messages allows you to know which files are being fixed by CADdirect and what errors have occurred. (Available if Open Drawings Using Recover is marked.)

Disable Error Reporting Click only if you want to turn off error reporting when a crash issue is encountered while running CADdirect.

Generate Full Report Click only if requested for troubleshooting purposes. The complete report of crash data can be up to 100MB in size, and while it contains helpful information for troubleshooting issues, is more likely to fail during transmission due to its file size. (Available if Disable Error Reporting is turned off.)

Disable VBA CommonProject Macros on Startup Click if you do not plan to use Visual Basic Applications (VBA). This may improve performance and can also enhance security if you are running CADdirect at a low security level. (Available if supported by your version of CADdirect.)

Set Files Association Click to select which filetypes are associated with CADdirect and open automatically using CADdirect.
