Customize - Application Buttons



Use the Customize User Interface dialog box to create or modify application buttons for the ribbon. An application button displays to the right of the Application Button in the user interface, and when you click it, displays a set of commands that are commonly file-related, such as New, Open, Import, Export, and more.

In the Customize User Interface dialog box, click the Customize tab, select either a workspace or a customization file (for example, ICAD), then expand Application Buttons in the list.

To add a new application button

Right-click an application button in the list, then choose Insert Application Button. The new application button will be inserted above your selection in the list.

Type the application button name, and then press Enter.

To add items to an application button

Expand the application button in the list.

Add commands to the application button by dragging them from the Command List to the Customization list.

For more options, right-click an item in the Application Buttons list and choose one of the following:

  • Insert Command Button Inserts an item that runs a command when clicked in the user interface. The command is inserted in the list above your selection.
  • Insert Menu Button Inserts a menu item that opens a sub-menu when clicked in the user interface. The menu is inserted in the list above your selection.
  • Insert Separator Inserts a line in the user interface that visually separates groups of commands.
  • Insert Child Command Button Inserts an item that runs a command when clicked in the user interface. The command is nested under your selection in the list. This option displays for menu buttons (not command buttons).
  • Insert Child Separator Inserts a line in the user interface that visually separates groups of commands. The separator is nested under your selection in the list. This option displays for menu buttons (not command buttons).

To specify button images and properties for an item on an application button

Select an item on an application button in the Customization list.

Depending on your selection, Button Image and/or Properties areas display on the right. Specify the desired options for the selected item. For more details, see Customize tab > Button Image and Customize tab > Properties.

To copy and paste an application button

Right-click the application button in the list, then choose Copy.

Right-click where you want to locate the copy, then click Paste.

To remove an application button

Right-click the application button in the list, then choose Delete. The program prompts whether you are sure you want to remove the application button. To remove it, choose Yes. To keep it, choose No.
