Text Styles Manager (command line version): STYLE

Keyboard: -_STYLE

Creates or changes current text styles from the command line. You can also create named text styles by selecting combinations of font, mirroring, obliquing, and horizontal scaling.

See Font Samples for a list of shape fonts available in CADdirect.

? to list existing styles · <Text style to create or modify> · <Standard>: To select the default, press Enter. To list existing styles, choose ?.To create a new style, enter the name of the style. To modify a style, enter the name of the style you want to modify.

To list existing styles

Enter ?, and then enter *. The Prompt History window appears, containing a list of all defined styles. For example, the following information appears for the STANDARD style, which is present in every drawing:

To create a new style

Enter the name of the new style.

Font: Enter the font name.

Text height or [Annotative] <0">: Choose Annotative.

Create annotative text style [Yes/No] <Y>: To make text display and print according to annotation scaling, that can use annotation scaling. Otherwise, choose No.

Orient relative to sheet in paper space viewports [Yes/No] <N>: To make text oriented automatically in paper space according to the layout viewport, choose Yes. Otherwise, choose No.

Text height <0.0000>: Enter a value for the height of the text. For non-annotative text styles, this is the fixed height; for annotative text styles, this is the text height in paper space. When the height is 0, you are prompted for the text height when you use the Text, DText, and MText commands.

Width factor <1.0000>: Enter a value for the width factor. A value less than 1.0 makes the text narrower; a value larger than 1.0 makes the text wider. For example, a value of 0.85 makes the text 15% narrower, and a value of 1.15 makes the text 15% wider.

Obliquing angle <0.0000>: Enter a value for the obliquing angle. This is the angle at which the letters slope. A positive value slopes the text forward, and a negative value slopes the text backward. For example, a value of 15 slopes the text forward by 15 degrees.

Draw text backwards? <N>: To draw text backward, enter Y. Doing this is useful when you want to print a mirror image of the drawing. To draw text normally, enter N.

Draw text upside-down? <N>: To draw text upside-down, enter Y. To draw text normally, enter N.

Draw text vertically? <N>: To draw text vertically, enter Y. Not all fonts have the capability to be drawn vertically, so this prompt appears only when the font has that capability. To draw the text normally, enter N.

To modify an existing style

Enter the name of the style you want to modify.

Follow the same prompts.
