The way entities are added to the selection set is determined by the PICKADD system variable. [FILter/?]/<Select entities>: Use any of the selection methods to select the entities you want to include in the selection set. To view a list of all selection methods, choose ?. You can also choose FILter to filter the selection by properties. After you select the entities you want, press Enter. If selecting entities using a filter, note that entering names of layers, linetypes, etc., is case sensitive. For example, a drawing with layers SAMPLE Layer 1, sample Layer 2, and SAMPLE Layer 3 will return no selection if you specify "SAMPLE". Specifying "SAMPLE*" returns two layers, "*Layer*" returns all layers, and "sample*" returns one layer. TIP Entities that you preselect are placed into a previous selection set.
