Menu: Dimensions > Dimension Break

Keyboard: _DIMBREAK

Adds a break to dimensions or multileaders at a point where they intersect with other entities, or removes a break. A dimension break is a space on either side of the intersecting entity, which helps to keep dimension lines, extension lines, or multileaders from looking as if they are part of drawn entities. After a break is added, it is updated automatically when the dimension, multileader, or intersecting entity is modified.

The size of a break gap is determined by the assigned dimension style and can be specified in the New or Modify Dimension Style - Symbols and Arrows tab.

Select dimension to add/remove break or [Multiple]: Specify the dimension or multileader that you want to break or restore. To break or restore more than one dimension or multileader, choose Multiple.

Select entity to break dimension or [Auto/Remove]: Specify the entity that crosses the dimension or multileader where the break is needed. To place breaks at each point where the selected dimension intersects with other entities, choose Auto. To remove all existing breaks from the selected dimensions, choose Remove.
