Copies the selection to the Windows Clipboard. You can paste the selection into another drawing or into another program.

For more copy settings, including which versions of .dwg files are used for copying, use the Tools > Options > Clipboard tab.

To paste the drawing in a specific format, use the Edit > Paste Special commands. For example, you can paste the drawing in picture (WMF or EMF) format to create a two-dimensional version of a three-dimensional drawing. Or you can select Bitmap format to paste the drawing into a raster editing program.

FILter/<Select entities to copy to the clipboard>: Select the entities you want to copy. Choose FILter to filter the selection by properties.

The entities are copied to the Clipboard in the following formats:

Format Description
Picture WMF (Windows metafile), a vector format.
Bitmap BMP, a raster format.
Enhanced metafile EMF (enhanced metafile), a vector format.
CADdirect Entities The native vector format of the program.
CADdirect Block The native vector format of the program inserted as a block definition.
Object Descriptor Used by ActiveX v2.
DIB Device-independent bitmap, a raster format.
