Splits an entity into two entities. You can split, or remove the ends from, lines, arcs, circles, polylines, infinite lines, rays, ellipses, splines and donuts.

 

 

  1. Selects the entity and its first break point on the entity.
  2. Specify the second break point on the entity.

Replace

Select entity to break: Select the entity you want to break.

If you specify a point, the following prompt appears in the command bar:

First break point ◆ <Second break point>: Specify the second break point, the default setting (the program assumes that the first point you specified is the first break point that you want). To specify the first break point, choose First break point, or type F and press Enter.

If you select the entity by drawing a crossing window, the following prompt appears in the command bar:

 

 

  1. Select the entity to break.
  2. Specify the first break point on the entity.
  3. Specify the second break point on the entity.

Replace

First break point: Specify the first point at which you want to break the entity.

Second break point: Specify the second break point. To convert a circle to an arc, remove a piece of the circle by selecting the second break point counterclockwise from the first break point you selected.


TIP To break an entity into two separate entities, specify the same point for both the first and second break points. You can also enter the at sign (@) in the command line when you are prompted to specify the second point.
